How to plan and what to expect.
Shopping The Stone Collection
Understanding the Shopping Process
Shopping for stone can be exciting! However, it also may seem confusing if it’s your first time. Where should you start? How does this work? Understanding industry practices for wholesale stone distributors will significantly enhance your overall experience.
Planning
Engage a Stone Fabricator
The Stone Collection is open to the public for selection, but we service industry professionals. As is industry practice, all pricing and sales will be through your stone fabricator. Your architect, designer, or general contractor may often recommend a fabricator; if not, we can help.
Allow Time
Our slab galleries are expansive—many are over 100,000 sq. ft. Allow ample time to walk the aisles and ask questions. Even if you already know the stone you’re looking for, it can still take time to identify your perfect stone due to differences in veining and finishes.
No Appointment Necessary
Ready to visit? No appointment is necessary. We are open for public selection Monday through Friday, with some locations open on Saturdays. Bring your architect, designer, family, or friends – our conference room is available. We even have playrooms for children.
Bring Samples
Choosing a stone to elevate your project can be challenging. Bringing flooring, cabinetry, and color samples can help. The samples help our staff identify your perfect stone and thus may limit the need for multiple visits.
Review Our FAQs
We understand that selecting the perfect stone can come with a lot of questions. From understanding the different stone types to caring for your selection, we’re here to help. Visit our FAQ page for answers to common questions and helpful tips to guide you through the process.
The Visit
One-on-One Service
After a few cursory questions to understand your needs, we will walk you through the facility and dedicate as much one-on-one time as you desire. Alternatively, you can review our inventory at your leisure.
Lists of Materials
We display thousands of stone slabs in our galleries, and it may be difficult to remember one particular stone. To help, we provide an alphabetized list for material identification and note-taking.
Ask Questions
Some stones are better suited for particular applications; we’re happy to make recommendations. Want to review stones within a bundle or have us lay out a bookmatch, just ask.
Pricing
Pricing and sales are processed through your stone fabricator. However, materials display levels (1 – 7, exotic and super exotic) to help you understand their relative cost. As the level increases, the potential cost increases.
Slab Reservations/Holds
Once you’ve selected your material and verified its availability, you may reserve it for 14 days. This hold allows you to secure bids and finalize details with your stone fabricator.
Fabrication & Installation
The Stone Collection is a wholesale distributor only. We do not provide installation or fabrication services. However, we are happy to share our list of reputable stone fabricators.
